If you have never been on a kayak or a paddle board, or if you're with children, Cala de Finestrat is the best place in the whole area to start. It is a small, sheltered bay with little swell, and that changes everything when you're learning.

Why it's ideal to start

  • Calm water: the shape of the cove shelters it from the swell, so the water is usually flat.
  • Everything nearby: it has its own car park, beach bars and services, very convenient for a family day out.
  • Short distances: you don't need a big crossing to have fun; you can paddle around the bay at your own pace.

Snorkelling at La Llosa

In front of the cove is La Llosa, a rocky underwater platform with seabeds rich in marine life, very close to the small island. It's a great spot to anchor and get in the water with a mask. For many, this is the best plan of the day: paddle a little, anchor and snorkel.

With kids

Cala de Finestrat is perfect for a first family experience. We recommend the double or triple kayak, stable and with room for everyone, and of course an approved life jacket for the little ones. Short routes, plenty of swim stops and staying close to shore: fun guaranteed.

Tips

  • Even in a calm cove, always keep your life jacket on.
  • Sunscreen and water: the Costa Blanca sun is relentless.
  • If it's your first time on a paddle board, start kneeling on the board and stand up once you gain confidence.

Cala de Finestrat is one of our delivery zones, so we leave the gear right by the cove. Book your day and start here. Once you find your feet, the Villajoyosa coves and Benidorm Island await.
