It is the most common question when making a booking: "should we take the double or the triple?". Short answer: it depends on how many you are and who actually paddles. The long answer, with all the nuances, is this.

The double kayak: the couples' all-rounder

The double kayak is the natural choice for two adults. A quality inflatable, stable and quick through the water, it lets you share the effort and keep a lively pace: it is the one we recommend for routes with real distance, like Benidorm Island or Serra Gelada.

Its limit? Space. Two adults fit perfectly; two adults and a child do not. That is what the next one is for.

The triple kayak: the family cruiser

The triple kayak adds a centre seat that changes everything for families: it is the perfect spot for a child, protected between the two adults, who can paddle… or stop paddling when they get tired, which is what usually happens. It also works for three adults on an easy-going outing, though with three paddling you will want a little coordination.

Bigger and with more load capacity, it is slightly less nimble than the double, but in exchange it offers huge stability: the safest option when there is little experience on board.

The decision, case by case

  • Couple, no kids: double kayak, no hesitation.
  • Two adults + one child: triple, with the little one in the middle.
  • Two adults + two small children: triple (children can share the centre seat only if they are very small; ask when booking).
  • Three adults: triple for a relaxed plan; double + one on a SUP if someone prefers paddle boarding.
  • Four or more: combine several kayaks. You choose the quantity of each when booking.

Details worth knowing

Both are high-pressure inflatables: very stable, light to carry across the beach and with room for a dry bag and a cool box (add both as extras when you book). Both include paddles, life jackets for everyone and a pump. And both are delivered the same way: we bring them to your delivery zone and collect them at the same spot.

Still unsure? A tip: all else being equal, the triple forgives more mistakes. For groups with kids or first-timers, it is the safe pick. And if your doubts are about budget, here is what it costs to rent a kayak in Benidorm.
