The best-kept secret of our full-day rental is the final hour. From 7pm the afternoon breeze dies, the water flattens out, half the swimmers have gone for a shower and the light turns golden. Since we collect the equipment between 6:30pm and 7:30pm, smart bookers paddle twice: the big route in the morning and the magic cruise at the end of the day.

Cala de Finestrat faces east, so at sunset the sun drops behind the silhouette of Puig Campana. The bay turns into a mirror — the perfect moment for stand-up paddle, even for someone who had their first go that same morning. A relaxed cruise inside the bay, no goals: just float and watch.

Poniente from the water: the skyline lighting up

Heading north from the cove, or from any point along Poniente beach, paddling parallel to the shore at sundown has a double reward: the beach on one side in low light, and Benidorm's skyline switching on, tower by tower, on the other. Villajoyosa: the coloured houses at their best hour

If you're in Villajoyosa, the last light is when the old town truly shines: the coloured houses facing Playa Centro go from pastel to fire as the sun sinks. Drift two hundred metres offshore, look back at the town, and you have the photo of the day — with a five-minute paddle home.

  • Mind the collection time: we agree the spot and the window when you book; plan to be on the sand 15 minutes early.
  • Sunset is not the deadline: the good light starts an hour earlier. In August, head out around 7:30pm and drift back with the sun still visible.
  • Don't wander out after dark: these are shoreline cruises, not crossings. Without light, the coastline is your only reference.
  • Evening water rarely misbehaves, but the forecast rules: check how to read the wind and sea for the final hour too.
